This is the last week for me to assessing up my students before they having their formative test next week. We have finished all the necesary covered topics for the test and this week focus will be on revising the topics.
Activities this week.
The lesson and revisions conducted in this week are:
FORM 4: This week we are revising Chapter 2, in preparation for the upcoming formative test in the next weeks. Since this is a revision session. I only recapping the crucial sections where the students shown to be having problems based on previous classes. Mostly the lessons conducted by attempting to solve the master exercise questions from the textbook. After I have done recapping the necessary parts, then I instructed students to do selected questions by themselves, and only after that I will called for volunteer to showcase their solutions. Along the way, I have pointed out on the displayed solutions such as the mistakes, precautions, and titbits.
The STRENGTH of my approach is one question at a time, allowing the students to check their solutions.
but the apparent WEAKNESS is there are few of them that didn't seriously answer the questions as they are waiting for the solutions from me.
OPPORTUNITY that can be seen is for them be disciplined and organized, when they attempt one question at a time, and marking their solution and jotting notes.
Whereas the THREAT is in the case of absentee. This method requires the attention of the whole class at those times, otherwise it will create knowledges gap for those that not in the class.
FORM 5: This week we are revising on Chapter 4, TAXATION.
For this revision sessions, I have implemented jigsaw methods in conducting the lessons. Grouping students in 4 groups with 5 pupils per group. Each group are given the same set of questions and they assign or choose the questions that given to them where each pupil will attempt one question each. 15 minutes after trying it out, they are instructed to grouped with other pupils that choose the same question as them, their group is called as expert group. After 10 minutes discussions, they need to reach consensus on the correct methods of solving the question. For the next 25 minutes, each pupil will return to their original group, and they need to teach their friends on the proper methods to solve the question that they choose.
The STRENGTH of my approach is student centred activities which teach them responsibility and teamwork.
but the apparent WEAKNESS is there are few of them that didn't participate much in the discussion during expert grouping.
OPPORTUNITY that can be seen is for them to practice the methods in other subjects and even their daily life.
Whereas the THREAT is in the case of absentee. This method requires the attention of the whole class at those times, otherwise it will create knowledges gap for those that not in the class.
