Aside from academic lessons, this week I have been busied prepping for
MAJLIS SUKAN SEKOLAH DAERAH (2022), for MRSM Taiping Football team. Words
cannot describe how stressful this week has been, juggling my classes and
managing the necessary documents and materials for next week tournament. However, the things that worries me the most is the second observation by my mentor, Madam Sa'adah.
Activities this week.
The lesson and revisions conducted in this week
are:
FORM 4: This week we start learning new topic, Chapter
10 (INDEX NUMBERS). Due to its short contents, the chapter have already
finished in just a week lesson.
For this topic, it is related to economic educations,
and I have been using examples from few suitable products, such as MCD,
STARBUCKS, relating the topics with the things that these youngsters can relate
to.
The STRENGTH of my approach is it gave clear visions on
the things they studied.
but the apparent WEAKNESS is a handful of the students cannot
even visualize the concepts even with the examples, some of them seems aren’t familiar
with it. Which leads me to find the most common products that can help them
visualize it, such as bottled water.
OPPORTUNITY that can be seen is for them to get immerse in
actual economic products or goods and relate it mathematical concepts.
Whereas the THREAT is students too eager in giving
their products examples and making it harder to entertain each of its.
FORM 5: This week we are starting Topic 6 (RATIOS AND GRAPHS OF
TRIGONOMETRIC FUNCTIONSEMENT), focusing on 6.1 (THE VALUE OF SINE, COSINE AND
TANGENT FOR ANGLE BETWEEN 0 AND 360).
Same as previous topic for the last week, I have implemented learning
through discovery. Using the materials provided in QR code from the textbook, I
instructed students to pair up, and engage in discovery activity based on the
GEOGEBRA materials. Having iPad sure makes the learning process easier as
students can engage in the discovery activities much easier.
The STRENGTH of my approach is student able to get
clearer comprehension on the concept of references angle.
but the apparent WEAKNESS is there are few of them that
is not tech savvy, causing their partner to do the jobs for them.
OPPORTUNITY that can be seen is for them to get more interested
in discovering other mathematical concepts.
Whereas the THREAT is in the poor internet connection
in the class as the activity relied heavily with internet connections.
Co-curriculum activities this week.
Football club: This
week activities are the same as last week, futsal, giving the chances for students
that didn’t have the basic of football to get the feel of the game.
Police cadet: Managed
by others.
Aside from the academic lessons, I have been managing
the school MSSD FOOTBALL team for the competition next week. Last Friday, I
have taken the initiative to arrange friendly match between MRSM Taiping and
SMK Tengku Menteri, hoping it can serve as experience for the athletes before the
actual games. Alhamdulillah MRSM Taiping have won the match by 4 – 0.
Alhamdulillah, Madam Sa'adah general feedback on the second observation are much higher compared to the first one. Utilising EDAPP as teaching tool, and putting attention to my mistakes during the first observation, the second observation finished with positive note.
