WEEK 2 (16 - 20 MAY) STRUGGLING WITH CLASSES & SPM MARKING

 Balancing times for classes and marking SPM papers.

As this is my first experiences in marking SPM papers, it certainly taking a tolls in my times and mental health, finding the times to marking the papers while fulfilling my obligitary and duty as teacher, with addition of my additional positions that I responsible for especially dormitory teacher. Nevertheless, it is a challenge that I have prepared before taking up the responsibility.






Activities this week.

The lesson and revisions conducted in this week are :

FORM 4: This week we are moving on to Chapter 2 (Quadratic Functions) and this week will be focusing on topic 2.1.1 (Solve quadratic equations using the method of completing the square and formula). Two new methods that the students learned on the matter of solving for x, completing the square (CTS) and quadratic formula. The first method is proving as challenge since it's involving in modifying the general form of quadratic functtion. Thus, I have taken approach in exploring 2.3.3 (Vertex form) first where it emphasizes on the concept of completing the square, Whereas quadratic formula is easy for the students to undesrtasnd as it simply applying direct formula. The STRENGTH of my approach is it will be easier for the students on the later part of the topic as we have explored the formulation of CTS, but the apparent WEAKNESS is the students still relying in the textbook learning order which makes it bit hard to learn topic in advance. OPPORTUNITY that can be seen is for them to be versatile in studying rather than following assigned methods. Whereas the THREAT is the same as the previous week, regarding PG session where it will be problems for them when another teacher in charge of them and luckily PG sessions for them does not start yet.

FORM 5: Second week for Insurance and we have wrap it up nicely. this week is focusing on 
3.1.3 (Solve problems involving insurance including deductible and co-insurance).
We have explored various structural questions from the textbook and discussing the appropriate approach to be taken, I'm encouraging students to justify their reasoning behind their decisions rather than simply dismissing it. STRENGTH that can be seen is for the students to be more assertive in justifying their belief, while the WEAKNESS is it hard to get the introvert students to be active participant during the sessions. OPPORTUNITY that can be seen is for creative thinkings that going to be useful even outside the academic hours, while the possible THREAT is the vast informations available on the web regarding Insurance, as the students like to review online they tend to found extra concepts that is not covered in this topic and it really difficult to address each of the misconception that they learned from the web.

Co-curriculum activities this week.

Football club: Another teacher incharge for this week activities.

Police cadet: This week is my turn in handling their activities and what have been done is activity of creating infographic poster of police cadet, on various aspects such as PDRM appreciations, cyber bullying, and many more. The session begin with the secretary of police cadet taking attandence of the students and I proceed with clarifying activities that will happened for this session. After that, I asked the students to form a group of 5 and choose the topic that they interested on making the poster. As each group discussing the contents for their poster, I periodically moving from one group to another, gave them helping hand in setting them to the right direction in their discussions. By the end of the session, all group have submitted their poster to police cadet Telegram group.

WEEK 9 (18/7 - 22/7) PREPPING FOR MSSD & SECOND OBSERVATION

  Aside from academic lessons, this week I have been busied prepping for MAJLIS SUKAN SEKOLAH DAERAH (2022), for MRSM Taiping Football team.
